Swedish automation consultants Substorm appoints Max Thörn as their COO, a newly created role, effective April 1st.
“With this and other recent reinforcements to our team, we aim to take an even bigger share of the quickly growing AI and automation market in Sweden and Europe”, says Substorm founder and CEO Sofi Elfving.

Since their start just a little more than a year ago, Substorm has grown to almost 20 employees thanks to several new clients and interesting collaboration projects across Sweden.
As the company now aims to grow even further on its key markets, with a special focus on northern Sweden and the Gothenburg area, Substorm has appointed Max Thörn as Chief Operating Officer. The new COO has a clearly stated mission to develop structures that prepares the company for continued growth.
Substorm’s founder and CEO Sofi Elfving says: “I’m really happy to announce this key appointment for Substorm and I feel really confident that Max has the skillset and talent needed to prepare the company for an even higher growth. I take this opportunity to welcome him into our executive management team.”
Max Thörn joined Substorm in June 2020 and has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Oxford Brookes University. He had previously worked as an automation and management consultant at FiloProcess and AVO Consulting after a brief but successful career in the financial industry.
Even though Substorm has grown rapidly from the start, Max Thörn considers this first year only as the beginning of an exciting journey:
“Our success so far is only to be seen as a proof of the enormous potential in the automation industry and the growth that lies ahead of us as technology that used to be exclusive for major corporations now is made available for organizations of all sizes and in all parts of the world” the new COO concludes.
Substorm was founded in 2019 by Sofi Elfving and digital business developers Tromb. The company was recently appointed one of the top AI startups in Europe. Substorm’s focus is intelligent automation and machine learning applications.
